10 Must-See TED Talks for Autism Parents Pt.4

Here is part 4 of my 10 MUST-see TED Talks.

Have fun indulging in the vast sea of nerd-ness I have created here. : )

7. Wendy Chung: Autism – what we know (and what we don’t know yet)

Wendy Chung is a geneticist who has focused on finding answers that relate to Autism. She talks about what Autism is and focuses on the genetic factors of Autism. I highly recommend this video, because it addresses some of the basic concerns many new Autism Parents may have. Being the self-proclaimed neuroscience nerd that I am, I found this video one of the most interesting one; because Wendy Chung talks about how genetics and simple changes can have a profound impact on how a person’s brain works. She also talks about the different things we don’t know about Autism just yet.

8. Alix Generous: How I learned to communicate my inner life with Asperger’s

Alix Generous is a college student with High Functioning Autism. Her Talk is absolutely hilarious, by the way. She explains how Asperger’s has affected her life and how she sees the world around her. Additionally, she talks about how Asperger’s has been challenging, yet she continues to dream, work on and not let anything stand in her way. This young lady shows society how she does not allow her so-called disability, and lack of social-skills, hinder her in any way.

What do you think about this list? Are there any TED Talks you would recommend?
